Disney says Lilo & Stitch 2 is scheduled to open in theaters May 26, 2028, with production expected to begin in Hawaiʻi later this year. The company announced the date during its Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23.

Disney said Chris Sanders, who co-created the original animated film and voiced Stitch, is set to direct the sequel. The company named Jonathan Eirich as producer and Ryan Halperin and Tom Peitzman as executive producers.
The announcement follows the 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch release. Disney’s D23 post describes the sequel as a planned theatrical project and says production is expected to start later this year.
