A disturbing Greenville County investigation has led to the arrests of six people accused in an alleged child sex ring involving claims that date back more than two decades.
The case has drawn major attention because several of the suspects once held public safety roles, including a former Greenville Fire Department training officer, a former Greenville police officer, and a former Mauldin police officer. Authorities say the investigation began after victims came forward with allegations of sexual abuse connected to incidents that reportedly happened between 1998 and 2003.
The suspects named in reports include Matthew Joseph Fay, Waylon William Rogers, Allen Randolph Foltz, Paula Lawrence Foltz, Edward John Storer, and Jeannine Wisler Storer. Investigators said the suspects were friends or acquaintances of one another, and multiple search warrants were executed as part of the investigation.
The charges include criminal sexual conduct with a minor, criminal solicitation of a minor, unlawful conduct toward a child, conspiracy, accessory-related charges, and other serious offenses. Some of the most disturbing allegations involve children under the age of 11.
The case has shocked the Greenville community because of the public trust connected to some of the suspects’ past positions. Police officers and firefighters are expected to protect the public, which makes the allegations even more troubling for many residents following the case.
Court proceedings have already begun, and reports say three of the suspects were denied bond after a judge found that releasing them could pose a danger to the community.
