The company’s decision to move aligns with a broader trend among tech giants such as Tesla, Google, and Oracle, which have migrated operations to Texas in recent years. The relocation is part of ABBYY’s strategy to streamline operations and attract top talent, particularly in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

ABBYY’s CEO, Ulf Persson, stated that the move places the company “at the heart of a growing tech ecosystem,” referring to Austin’s “Silicon Hills” region, which has become a major hub for technology and innovation. This transition comes with new leadership appointments, including Nick Hyatt as Vice President of Engineering and Hopeful Owitti as Vice President of Customer Experience.

Although the headquarters are moving to Austin, ABBYY’s Milpitas, California office will remain operational, and existing employees are not required to relocate. The company plans to use this opportunity to expand its development centers in Hungary, India, and the United States, further accelerating growth and innovation.

This relocation reflects ABBYY’s focus on optimizing operations and fostering collaboration among its teams. The company will host a digital event on October 30, 2024, called ABBYY Ascend, to showcase its latest AI advancements and discuss its plans for future growth in intelligent automation.
