The arrest announced by the FBI

FBI Indianapolis said August 14 that Henderson was apprehended without incident in Louin, Mississippi, by members of the FBI’s Jackson Field Office. The bureau said he made an initial appearance in federal court in Mississippi on August 13.

The FBI said Henderson remains in federal custody pending additional proceedings and extradition to Indiana. The agency’s announcement does not resolve the underlying case.

Why he was on the list

According to the FBI, Henderson became a federal fugitive in 2023 after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with charges arising from a multijurisdictional investigation. The bureau said he was the 542nd person added to the Ten Most Wanted list.

The underlying allegations involve international drug trafficking and an animal-fighting enterprise, according to the FBI. Those are charges and allegations; they have not been established by a trial verdict.

What the public announcement means

The Ten Most Wanted list is a public-facing investigative tool, and the FBI credited multiple agencies and the public for assistance in the arrest. An arrest, however, is not a finding of guilt.

The next substantive developments will occur in court, where the government will be required to prove any charges under the applicable legal standard.
